FUHRMAN/BOYER NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION
Friends of South Portage Bay Reclamation
ABOUT US:
The Fuhrman and Boyer Neighborhood Improvement Association (FABNIA) was initially organized by residents along the Boyer/Fuhrman corridor and Portage Bay to address traffic concerns. FABNIA, has helped install traffic landscaped calming circles, sidewalk plantings, initiated neighborhood cleanups and is working with officials on developing a bicycle corridor in the neighborhood. Recently we formed Friends of South Portage Bay Reclamation to work with the Seattle Parks and Recreation Department to clear 1.5 acres of abandoned park land at South Portage Bay.
Habitat Restoration Project Receives Grant
A $90,000 Seattle Department of Neighborhoods Grant has been awarded the Friends of SouthPortageBay. This money will be used to begin building phase one of the master plan. A pledge drive will be underway shortly to raise the $32,000.00 cash match needed. Get those checkbooks ready!
HELP MAKE A PARK!
You can help us transform a former field of blackberries into a habitat for native plants and wildlife with trails and a possible kayak launch along the shore of South Portage Bay. With the help of Seattle Parks and Recreation Department, neighborhood volunteers, and many community groups we are making progress. There is much to be done-please volunteer!
